Kinesiology for Allergies and Sensitivities

Allergies and sensitivities are the result of your immune systems response to a substance.

In Kinesiology, we use the term Immune Mismatch Response, to talk about allergies and sensitivities. This is because it is the immune system that is responding to a substance the body has come into contact with, ingested or inhaled. When a persons immune system works inappropriately, they can experience a wide range of physical & emotional symptoms.

What is the immune system?

The immune system protects the body from perceived threats. These could be from invasion of a pathogen from the outside or the bodies own subversive behaviour like cancer etc. There are a number of parts to our immune system and they are all around our body.

Thymus: a gland that stimulates the production of white blood cells

Lymph nodes: filter lymph to identify and help fight infection.

Appendix: contains a particular type of tissue which carries the white blood cells needed to fight infections.

Peyers Patch: Trap foreign particles entering the Gastrointestinal tract, surveilling them, and destroying them.

Spleen: Removes harmful bacteria and viruses in the blood stream.

Bone Marrow: White blood cells are produced in the marrow, and play an important part in the body’s immune system. These include:

  • Lymphocytes, neutrophils, and monocytes. These white blood cells fight against invading bacteria, viruses, or fungi to help destroy infection. Each of these cells differs in appearance.
  • Eosinophils and basophils. These white blood cells respond to allergens that can invade our bodies.

Tonsils and Adenoids: Both your tonsils and adenoids help to trap pathogens, such as bacteria or viruses, that enter your mouth or nose. They contain immune cells that produce antibodies that kill these pathogens before they can spread to the rest of your body.

When our immune system is responding in a mismatched manner, it can show by a hyper-reactive response to something perceived as a threat to the status-quo. or as a hypo-reactive response if there are insufficient messages from the body’s defences appropriately.

How can Kinesiology assist the body with Allergies and Sensitivities?

Kinesiology helps us identify what food or other substances your body energetically rejects.

Using muscle testing, the body gives us an indication of what foods or substances are not tolerated by the body at present. In many situations eliminating the substance from the persons diet or environment is the answer.

However, sometimes it is not enough to simply know what to avoid or perhaps we are unable to completely eliminate it from our lives.
  • Some of the things we are allergic to are unavoidable, for example pollens and moulds.
  • Following an exclusion based diet can be difficult.
  • It can create more stress when we have to exclude our favourite thing.
  • If we’re not careful, exclusion can lead to a limited and unvaried diet.
  • If there are underlying issues. eg, psychological or electromagnetic issues in the system, other allergies may arise due to the increasing stress on the system .
In PKP, we don’t treat or diagnose allergies or sensitivities nor can we tell whether something will create an immediate or a delayed hypersensitivity response.

What we CAN do is look at:

  • Is it ok and safe to de-sensitise the immune system to the substance.
  • What techniques are needed in order to support the body and mind to be in a better position to be de-senstitised.
  • Identify how to support the body to reinstate proper function of the immune system?
  • What is the best way, if at all, to reintroduce this substance / food?
Because Kinesiology is holistic, we look at all factors. When we support the body to function at it’s peak in all aspects, it is more likely to respond to substances in a balanced way.
